Behind Bloom...
_I'm no rocket scientist turned baker. I'm just a baker, and have always been one. I love baking and cooking so much that I took Home Ec. for my extracurricular activity while other joined Chess clubs and Peace Cor. And my mom got so annoyed with me for always wanting her help to use the stove and oven as a kid... But it
all started during my 3rd pregnancy. It
was during the time of being off work and awaiting for the arrival of
the new baby that I decided to enroll myself in some cake decorating
course for fun
(yes, that’s my way of relaxing) I began posting pictures of my creations on my personal
Facebook page. One thing led to another,
friends and family started to ask me to create cakes for their special events. With the encouragement of my wedding planner
best friend, and the thought of combining my two passions together (baking and
Art), Bloom Cake Co. was founded in the spring of 2011. Without
a formal web site or any kind of advertisement, the only outlet to
reach out to the public was our fan page on Facebook. Our Facebook page
went from having just a few
hits in the beginning, to 1,500+ ‘Likes’ to date in just a few short
months! We have fans from all over the world. Not to mention my work has made the coveted
BLACK LIST on JW Photography’s blog (Joee Wong is an avid and well known Toronto
based wedding photographer) as one of his recommended wedding merchant! My work has also been approved and mentioned by many cake
designing veterans and was featured on numerous well known cake pages in the
cake community such as: Way Beyond Cake by Mayen, the CustestFood Blog and
Cakeb0t. I would’ve never dreamt of it
just over a year ago! I always want for myself and my children to be involved in charitable work, I was able to reach out to the kids in need by donating my work to Make-A-Wish Foundation's 'Wish Days'. It feels amazing to know that my work has touched these kid's lives even if it's only in a small way. In the end, I feel
blessed that I am able to run my own business, doing what I absolutely love, and
be able to still be a full-time parent to my three amazing children.
